Robin Currie

Robin CurrieRobin joined Barchester in 1995, having previously worked for the Manulife Group and as a consultant for an international firm of actuaries and management consultants. Initially serving the London area, he moved to Devon in 2000 and operates all over the South West from his home in Exeter.

A dedicated supporter of rural development and the growth of organic farming in Africa, Robin has worked with tribal communities in Zambia and Nigeria. He is an active supporter of the charity Harvest Help and has arranged a number of events to raise both money and awareness.

Robin is also well known for running the acclaimed seminar ‘Making Friends with Money’ (http://www.makingfriendswithmoney.co.uk/) which has been in existence since 1993. Robin is a regular contributor to a number of alternative magazines, including Connect, Breathing Space, Wave and Resurgence. In addition, he has been published by journals as varied as the Economist Intelligence Unit, Green Pages, Pure, Caduceus and New Vision. He is the editor of ‘Total Compensation Management’ (Basil Blackwell, 1994).

He also used to be a clown.

Rupert graduated from the University of Exeter in 1998 with a BA (Ed) in Physics and Primary Education. Spending eleven years as a primary school teacher, he took a keen interest in raising awareness of environmental and ethical issues amongst school communities. He took action at school and county level to encourage participation in the national “Eco Schools” programme, whereby schools consider their impact on the environment and make targeted improvements.

Rupert is able to give advice on family and business protection, regular savings, investments, retirement planning and inheritance tax. As an independent adviser, he can draw on the whole of the market to source the very best products, taking into account your personal values.

Married to Jennie with a four year old daughter, Rupert’s interests include music and gardening. He continues to support his village school and as a member of the PTA, gives his time to running regular school discos.

Based near Ilminster in Somerset, Rupert mainly services clients in the west-country but can also meet clients at the Salisbury office or give advice over the telephone.
